FAQ
while I was in beauty school. I will now start to work in a salon 3/20/2010. Should I have included the amt that I spent on supplies on my 2009 tax return? Even though I did not start my career until 2010? If not, can I use it on my 2010 return? Thanks

My pal's name is Donna and she just finished beauty school. She has recently started a salon in the basement of her home. Her store isn't flamboyant, but it's not like a snooty high-end store either. It's a casual place that friends and family can go to to receive their hair done by this lovely, young and awesome lady. It'd be chilly to have 'Donna' or 'Basement' in the name of it, but anything smart or just casual/modern sounding is good too! Thanks! Anything helps! :D

My hair is already an orange copper penny color but I want it a lot brighter orange and no matter what dye I use it fades really quick. I don't have money to spend at a salon so I usually receive my dyes at sally beauty supply. Does anyone have any suggestions of good dyes or colors to use? I really like to color of liz lee's hair on my life as liz, or christine hendricks.. I dunno just a really bright orange red.
Thanks!!

Why can't you do good work? I just spent $144 to receive my hair colored. Once again I showed a picture of exactly what I wanted. I wanted platinum blond hair with some dark streaks which would have been a dark ash blond. Exactly like the picture showed. The stylist who is also a master stylist and the store manager said they could definitely do it. I ended up with hair that is way to white for me to go to work with and barely noticeable dark streaks. A week before I went to the person I use to go to and asked for highlights. They looked like crap. They were a gold color after a week. Every time I go somewhere to receive my hair done it is never great. I have been to every kinds of places from beauty schools to high end salons. I tell them exactly what I want and show them a picture. What else can I do? I usually don’t realize how bad it is until I receive home then I can’t complain. Then you stand there and try to convince me that it looks great. You know that it doesn’t. You have experience and training why can’t you receive it right?

Hey my name is Courtney and I am 15.
So I have a job at a local beauty salon and even though I am not licensed I am AMAZING at cutting and dying hair and stuff and they always let me do it.
So this girl I hate named Jane walked in.
It was so busy so I quickly went to the back room and grabbed a wig and some sunglasses and took her to one of the rooms which had no one inside (we have separate rooms for every customers for privacy)
She wanted her hair dyed blond (it is almost black right now) and she wanted it clip short.
I said no problem I will need to bleach it (SHE DIDNT RECOGNIZE ME!)
I grabbed some bleach and I used WAY to much on purpose and left it in and then I punched out and left.
every of her hair burned off and she had scalp damage.
Will I receive caught?!

Ok so im now thinking about beauty school, but id rather work in a higher end salon in order to make money, i believe the nicer schools are like the aveda and paul mitchell, would i need to attend these schools in order to be able to be accepted at a nice Salon? Or should i just go to a local beauty school and keep a ton of money and still be able to receive a job at the nicer place?

I dyed my hair a dark brown a few months ago, and it has grown out about two inches. So I went into the beauty salon and had them try and lighten my hair the past couple months. So far, it is still dark and my roots are still there. I've always wanted to put blonde in my hair, so thats why I've tried to lighten it. I went in today for a root touch up and now its a light red. I was thinking about color stripping my hair to receive rid of the color, then put high lights in myself.
Is this a good idea?
How can I do it?
What will I need?
What is it going to do to my hair?
Will the blonde stick?

I already asked this question below the "beauty section", but I'm hoping to receive different, and better results here.
I'm doing a marketing/promotional plan for a class. And the best info i can receive is from people's answers. This will mainly help me define my "target market".
For homework help, can you tell me what your favorite hair salon is and why? Or what would be your ideal hair salon? Would it because they do appointments, arrive to your home, do creative hairstyles? (aside from the excellent customer service and attitude) Then tell me something that would make it special, or something that you would like a salon to do/have? Like,... anime hairstyles(or super creative), or have wifi,... etc.
Finally, can you tell me age, marital statue, and if your comfortable with it: education, and income? I know it sounds creepy,.... but that's marketing!

I have a very pretty blonde. Very light! I jokingly call it "playboy blonde". lol. But I guess the more appropriate comparison would be between Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga. My hair stylist, who is also a pal, uses a bleach on my roots every month. Double process. And then if needed, a toner. It looks very good. It is every one color.. No lowlights, highlights or anything. But I just can't afford to have it done anymore. Money has gotten really tight. I DONT want to go brunette.
I worked very difficult to receive it to this color, which I want to keep for my wedding. Is there any color product that I can use on my roots every month that will keep it looking good? Even if I use a box color or a color from Sally's Beauty Supply.. will it interact with my color and turn out weird? What precautions do I need to take?
[[ Up until I started going to my pal for my hair, I have ALWAYS colored and highlighted my possess hair and everyone else in my family! So even though I am not a "licensed hair stylist", I am very talented at it. So I am comfortable doing my hair. I just wanted to pamper myself for a while, that is why I went to a stylist. ]]

I went to the salon and got my hair professionally done for 230 dollars. i was a brown/red colour and wanted to go back to my natural shade a golden/dirty blonde. she bleached it first then applied the colour and highlights. No toner ( i think she forgot) i left with yellow and orange hair . she was so proud of herself i didnt have the heart to say i looked like a canary. I went home and got blue toner from a beauty supply depot. the lady didnt know that it had to be used with the hair dye. so i ended up with blue hair. i went back and she gave me two boxes of colour stripper. free of charge. i used one box and then went to the drug store to buy a dark blonde colour. as i was putting it in my hair turned blue. i had blue in the front right half of my head/ iused the secon dbox of colour stripper and now im back to the bright yellow canary looking hair. What do i do , i tried to go back to the salon to receive them to fix it. they said they wouldnt fix it cause i had waited too long and didnt say anything the day of the haircut etc. ( that was two days ago)
Added- I did pay to receive it done. it wasw 230 dollars! and it is BRIGHT canary yellow like totally yelllow. the storebought dye i used was a dark ash blonde by l'oreal. the toner is what made it turn blue in the first place. then after stripping it and putting the loreal in it. it went blue again.

She was told this would make her qualified to work in salon's. We have since asked what the name of the qualification is, she wouldn't answer the question clearly. She first said it is in home training and is LIKE a diploma. When asked is she national recognised she said yes through The Leeds Nail's & Beauty Academy. Hi guys (well, girls mostly)! /wave
I've been wondering recently. There are a lot of...shows? I guess, where a girl or guy looks nice of bad in the beginning, but they receive a makeover, and they improve in looks (if even a little) and receive the self-confidence necessary to start a social life?
I know that doesn't really happen in real life (unless you go on reality t-v or something), but I was wondering if you can give me some advice. :D
So I've always been insecure about my looks...I'm a 16 year old asian girl with long-ish curly black hair:
http://www.beauty-box.jp/style/long/138gar.html
^ kinda like that, except with straight bangs and limper curls (and not the face! ; ;)
I guess I follow the asian stereotype of tiny eyes and flat chest.
But I'm sure that can be remedied D:< !!!
My typical clothes are from...Delias or American Eagle, except I guess I'm nice of prep or plain, I don't know. I just normally have a shirt and jeans on. I never wear skirts because my mom says my legs are ugly. ; ; I'm also 5'5, which my mom says is too tall for a girl, so I never wear heels.
I don't put on makeup because my mom says (again!) that I shouldn't until college and that I should concentrate on studying (same reason for no pierced ears).
But I always feel unhappy when I walk down Flushing (part of New York City) and look a bunch of good looking guys with pretty girls. ; _ ;
So I don't want anything major, but do you guys just have any daily beauty routines, nothing that takes too much time, but something essential, you think?
Also about my skin...My skin is okay, I guess. Nothing major. But I do have bangs, so I have acne there (and recently a zit on my cheek! agh!)
Another reason why I'm looking for this is because my semi-formal dance is next week...;; I'm thinking of going to a beauty salon with my friends and just asking for them to do something to make me look better...But I don't really know that much about self-primping.
So please, any girls out there want to share their secrets? :D I can't ask my friends because they would giggle at me..
Also....I hear from like. People every the time that I look pretty. But that's mostly from my parents friends. So I think they're just flattering me. <_<
But I'm not totally helpless...My mom said she'd receive me double eyelid surgery when I got in to college (haha) and that I'd look pretty nice after. xD

I am actually doing this for a pal- I have blonde hair..
She has dark brown hair and wants some highlights of blue.
I used a semipermanent blue before and will be using this for her also- since I know I can trust it.
Side question- I've never dyed my hair before and the semi-permanent blue stayed in for about 2 months before fading to gray... why?! and if I dye it blue again and go to a salon to dye it light blonde, can they take out the blue?
Back to my pal :P
Should I bleach her hair (probably with a kit from Sally Beauty)
buy a blonde highlighting kit- since I'm only doing highlights
or try hydrogen peroxide?- though I heard this is very slight changes...
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

I'm a self employed therapist and work myself on a freelance mobile basis. I am also a single parent of two boys below 6.
On Friday I stumbled upon the most gorgeous beauty room to rent in a hairdressers. It's spacious and I could rent it on my terms. It has a basin in their too and is big and spacious.
I'd need to buy a few items such as wax trolley, nail desk, beauty sofa, bits of stock, I'd say every in every £200 to receive set up.
The salon has clients there wanting beauty and it did have a therapist but she lived far away and didn't push it. Apparently lots of requests for waxing and tanning
I could work two to three days a week there..
Now the other option is do I do this, or do I continue to do mobile; which is mostly evenings and I am paying out for sitters.
Or do I do both? Or for ease of purposes, stay to being mobile and have no overhead costs but steer a fair distance to customers.
If I got the room in the hairdressers, I know I'd need to promote myself, if I got the room in the hairdressers but I really fancy having my possess little room. I've never had a premises and can't work from home as it is too tiny.

You will have to make nothing assist otherwise to services(offices) and give a lot of money(silver) as offering. No speech or homily which makes feel guilty(feels guilty), I arrive with another God's idea, God appaisant and not making feel guilty(feeling guilty). Not need to judge you, everything will be à la carte as in the restaurant; you will have to pick among the menu the one who is best convenient for you. Besides, you will be free. If you estimate to have had bad consciousness having committed what you estimate as sin, nothing grave; I shall be there to feel the weight to you of the heart: " God is very good and he loves everybody as he is, another big sum and you are quits! ".
For the Gospel, the prosperité in the appointment if you give big sums as offering, God is very wealthy and if you enrich his servant He benira you and you will become still very wealthy, richer than in the past. Only the needy men will have to learn in my Church that it is otherwise sinned they will have to give every that they have as to live to be benies.
every the activities will be in produce you: visit celebrities, sonas and spas for fat women, video games soft or violent for young people, american football, basketball, various games. Miracles and demonstration of grand works in produce you!!! .I shall also propose you the day-care middle for your kids, beauty salons for any sorts of the persons, bianderia, cafetaria, canteens, etc.
If you wish it, it will belong not to me to say to you what you will have to make of your sex, hommosexuals and heterosexuals will have their places, marriage also between these groups. .. Not my work to judge you but only calm your consciousness after the abortion, the adultery, the fornication and the other things which you consider sinned. God loves everybody such as he is and he is very good to pass on what you consider sinned.
Only the only obligation which you will have to my religion, it is to sing by shouting and by fainting you, to give big sums of money and to bring me of the world, to consume my products and to remain faithful there.Teachings and Gospel of the prosperity in God produce you, is very wealthy and he does not like the poverty. every that you would like to hear on God will be there!! It will be a religion where you, and not another person, would be the craftsman of God, you will inspire me for homelies and teachings.
What you would like to hear on God will be there!! It will be a religion where you, and not another person, would be the craftsman of God, you will inspire me for homelies and teachings.
Additionals info.:what do you think of these American Evangelic Religions which look like this identikit picture? I had no time to add these questions, my mom came to call me for the meal.
Sorry, this is a parody to make you think about what your religious leaders gull you. It is possible that you are already in these types of Religion where they preach you the Gospel of the prosperity and the moral laxness, where you want to hear what you want that they say to you.
A little one echos of this versus:1TIMOTHY4:1,2:"1However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons, 2 by the hypocrisy of men who talk lies, marked in their conscience as with a branding iron;"
2Timothy4:3,4 says:3 For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their possess desires, they will accumulate teachers for ..
2Timothy4:3,4 says:3 For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their possess desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to untrue stories.
Are you sure not to be already in this situation? What do you think of this description? Do not the American Religions demonstrate their incapacity to give to their believers a quality teaching and a moral direction(management) such as the Bible recommends it? Making their faithful just men of the cow in - milk which they pressurize until swindle them?

I adore my hair shampoo, I use Loreal Elvital for dry hair (the bottle is yellow and gold).
My hair is very long and dyed blond so I need a lot of conditioner to keep it nice. Anyway I always buy this hair shampoo and conditioner at Walmart just because they sell it in those huge salon size bottles. So in the past week I went there twice just to receive that stuff and the shelves were empty. Some other Loreal beauty things were really cheap on sale (marked red), so I am worried that they won't sell it at Walmart anymore. I haven't checked other stores yet because they sell it in tiny bottles but I will check tomorrow.
So does Walmart cease selling these products permanently and will Loreal hair products just not be sold in the US anymore. Sounds weird, I know but I am really scared because I adore those products. Has anyone encoutered the same problem?
I live in Florida...

Now i am jobless and have no idea what im going to do in September and it's getting me down. I have to apply to college soon if i want a place in september. I went to a careers adviser last week, it was average help but i done a computer program on careers, my top 4 jobs were Reflexology, Aromatherapist, Chiropractor. etc Which when i was at college doing beauty we covered Aromatherapy, swedish body massage and indian head massage. every to do with massaging which was my favourite bit of beauty. However i do not want to work in a beauty salon maybe only getting to do a little massage. This is if i was to go down that road. So i'm looking into massage, reflex, aroma, holistic therapies etc courses. I would adore if someone could help me to find out were does any of these?? I also want to do it at a higher level than level 3 as thats what beauty was and there would be no point going backwards. so HND level or Degree i would be looking for. Have you heard of it? What do you think of it? Would you consider giving your dog a mineral clay mask treatment if your local dog groomer offers this service?
This dog grooming salon in Hong Kong offers beauty treatment (mineral clay masks) for dogs. I think the idea of putting clay masks on dogs is silly. It could be just a way for the groomer to make good money out of silly people. If anything, clay mask treatments would be a form of torture rather than beauty treatment for dogs. Imagine the dog has to sit there for 30 minutes or longer with that wet, grey clay covering the entire body, including the head... I don't think the dog will be very glad.
I could be wrong, so I want to hear what you think...

Some business owners at a San Juan Capistrano shopping middle say routine checks by the U.S. Border Patrol are scaring away customers and hurting their bottom lines.
Store owners at Alipaz Plaza at Del Obispo and Alipaz streets told Mayor Lon Uso during his Mayor's Walk this week that they want the city to ask the Border Patrol to cease going to the shopping middle. The Mayor's Walk is a monthly event organized by the San Juan Chamber of Commerce in which the mayor visits local businesses to hear their concerns. Wednesday afternoon's walk was the first for Uso, who became mayor in December.
"Last year I started hearing my customers say, 'Don't go to Alipaz Plaza, that's where (the Border Patrol agents) are hanging out,'" said Isabel Rizo Patron, owner of Isabel's Beauty Salon.
Rizo Patron said she has a diverse group of customers but that many of her clients are Hispanic and don't like to be in an area frequented by the Border Patrol.
The Border Patrol not only supervises border and interior checkpoints, such as the one a few miles south of San Clemente, but also inspects city streets much like a police force would, said Ralph Desio, a Border Patrol spokesman.
He said the Border Patrol often checks shopping centers throughout Orange County as part of an increased push to check for illegal goods and immigrants beyond the borders.
Uso listened to the concerns of Rizo Patron and others but said there's not much he can do when it comes to the agency formally known as U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
"We don't determine what they do or where they do it," Uso said.
Douglas Dumhart, the city's economic-development manager, who has been on many Mayor's Walks, said this is the first time he's heard of concerns about the Border Patrol's effect on commerce. But he said Alipaz Plaza has more Hispanic-based businesses than others that city and chamber officials have visited in the past.
The middle contains a few Mexican food restaurants, hair salons, a discount store and a coin laundry.
Rizo Patron and Tuning Acosta, who has owned A-Team Enterprises Income Tax Services in the plaza for 15 years, said they understand that Border Patrol agents have a job to do, but they would prefer it be done somewhere else.
Word of even one Border Patrol visit can spread through the community and cause some people to perceive Alipaz Plaza as an unsafe place for them, Rizo Patron said. So they spend their money elsewhere.
Acosta, a paralegal who focuses on immigration law, said he is thinking about moving to another shopping middle. The Border Patrol's effect, combined with the slumping economy, has decreased his client base by hundreds, he said.
The Border Patrol's Desio said the fear of customers who are staying away from the plaza "perhaps has reason."
"Perhaps their customers are here illegally," he said.
